Abstract An alarming and monitoring system is introduced to prevent crane contact with high voltage transmission lines, which determines the distance between the vehicle with the high voltage power cables by using electric field induction principle and ZigBee technology. When the distance is less than preset safe distance, it begin to send out sound alarm. The crane real-time position will be displayed the GIS map by simplify matching algorithm, and determine the distance between the crane and the transmission line based on the position information that send by GPS module in the vehicle-mounted device, when the distance is less than preset protection distance, system will to alarming information by 3G/GPRS and SMS. System divided into three parts, including electric field detection device, vehicle-mounted device and crane alarming and monitoring system, electric field detection device is mounted on crane arm and vehicle-mounted device is mounted in the cab. Practical tests show that the system has high test accuracy, it can meet crane shock protection and real-time monitoring under the high voltage transmission lines.
