Abstract By measuring the capacitive current of 10~35kV power network in Wuzhong, Ningxia, the phenomenon of over current of the capacitor current in the power network of this voltage grade is obtained. The potential safety hazard to the power grid after the over current of the capacitor current is analyzed, and the reason of the universal phenomenon of exceeding the capacitor current is analyzed. In view of the excess of the capacitor current, practical solutions are put forward to ensure the good operation of the electrical equipment of the power grid and ensure the safe and reliable operation of the power grid.
