Abstract Disastrous meteorological factors are the most important factors causing power grid defects and causing power equipment failure. This paper attempts to find out the relationship between severe meteorological factors and grid defects. By improving the existing Apriori algorithm, the correlation model adapted to the southern coastal power grid is obtained. The paper also discusses the problem of low support due to the small number of samples (less abnormal meteorological samples). At the end of the paper, the application of the model is explained by an example of a power grid in the south.
