Abstract In view of the shortcomings of the existing board detection system, a board detection system based on the PCS—9550 HVDC control and protection platform is designed and developed. In this paper, with the constraints of reducing the cost and saving space, the boards in the control and protection host unit, distributed IO unit and electronic transformer measurement unit are classified, the detection principle of each kind of board is proposed, and the software and hardware are developed. Finally, typical boards of a ±800kV UHVDC transmission project are tested. The results show that the system can detect different types of boards based on PCS—9550 HVDC control and protection system quickly and accurately, as well as provide support for the operation and maintenance work of the converter station and the simulation system of the scientific research unit.
