Study on electrical life evaluation of non-polarized direct current miniature circuit breakers

Abstract  Low-voltage circuit breakers are the main components of the control and protection of low-voltage AC and DC power distribution systems, and their electrical life is one of the performance indicators for measuring circuit breakers. Compared with low-voltage AC circuit breakers, DC circuit breakers have no current zero-crossing arc extinguishing feature, and its arc extinguishing and life evaluation are not easy. This paper studies the evaluation of the electrical life of the non-polarized DC miniature circuit breaker. The structure of the non-polarized DC miniature circuit breaker is explained. The arc characteristic analysis and electrical life test are carried out on the test platform, and the electrical life prediction model is established. The test results show that the stable combustion of the contacts by the arc is the main reason for the reduction of the electrical life of the circuit breaker. The proposed linear model of static contact ablation and arcing energy accumulation is effective in predicting its electrical life.
