Abstract With commissioning of Nuozhadu DC project, Yangjiang nuclear power station and increase in outgoing line of 500kV jiangmen substation, GIS equipment of jiangmen substation will not be able to match bus crossing power and short circuit current of the system. To solve the problem, this paper analyses difficulty、effect and impact on the system of several possible measures. Then, jiangmen substation reconstruction is suggested. Comparing technicality, economy of two possible scheme and calculating short circuit current,the recommendatory scheme is jiangmen substation reconstruction in original area: 500kV distribution device is modified to HGIS.
