Abstract Aiming at the problems of complexity of traditional six-phase SVPWM (space pulse width modulation) algorithm, this paper proposes a novel SVPWM algorithm. Using simple addition, subtraction and logical operations with two input orthogonal sinusoidal voltages and , this paper makes the sector judgment. Then the action time of basis synthetic vector in this sector could be obtained by means of looking up the table. This paper avoids the complex calculation process of the traditional six-phase SVPWM algorithm such as trigonometric, simplifies the algorithm steps. A dual three-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor is selected as the research object. The SVPWM model and the whole system simulation model based on Matlab/Simulink are given. The simulation results verify the effectiveness of the proposed algorithm.
