Abstract As a new type of transmission tower, Steel rod has many outstanding advantages in the power construction, because of that it has been widely used in city. Most of the transmission line of the steel pipe is adopt more back using the same tower erection. Due to its structure is compact and the operation space is narrow, it is difficult to replacement of insulators with the electric charge. In this paper, according to the characteristics of the 110~220kV same tower and multi back pipe line, we Developed a live replacement glass insulator tool through the material selection, production and testing of the apparatus. As the same time. The operation method which meeting the requirement of the field operation be proposed through the dangerous rate. The results can provide a reference for the development of steel rods for live working tools and instruments, and is important to promote the steel pole for live working.
