Abstract  In view of abnormality of secondary voltage in capacitor voltage transformer (CVT), based on characteristics and design parameters of the device structure, combined with the maintenance field conditions, a test method for damper component fault detection was proposed in this paper through high voltage test and circuit calculate. By analyzing examples of a fault case, describing the field test, data analysis and comprehensive judgment, it’s verify the accuracy of the method by disintegration. At the same time, the necessity of damping current detection for CVT was proposed in this paper.
