Abstract With the implementation of smart grid strategy of State Grid Corporation, the problem of lack of effective model description for physical maintenance objects and operation objects of secondary system in SCD files is becoming increasingly prominent. It seriously restricts the development and application of object-oriented advanced function in smart substations. This paper analyzes the current status of SCD files, and proposes a full model extension scheme for SCD files. The application in 500kV Donggang substation shows that the scheme makes the secondary system of the smart substation has the condition of model-based object management, which lays a solid foundation for the development of advanced applications such as visual operation and maintenance, one-button security, secondary system on-line monitoring and intelligent diagnosis.
