Analysis on overstep tripping of UHVDC converter station auxiliary power system bus-bar automatic transfer switch and its improvement |

Abstract Auxiliary power system is an extremely important system in ultra high voltage direct current (UHVDC) converter station, and its reliability directly affects the safe and stable operation of converter station. The main structure of station auxiliary power system and the automatic switching- on/off logic of bus-bar automatic transfer switch (BATS) based on Huaian converter station is introduced in this paper. On the basis of that, an overstep tripping of UHVDC converter station bus-bar automatic transfer switch is analyzed and the root cause of the fault that is the design error of 10kV switch signal circuit is pointed out. For this reason, the corresponding improvement measures are put forward, and the effectiveness of the improvement is verified by experiments.
