Abstract For fault of high power variable frequency drive system, tolerant-control technology of three level inverter was studied. Firstly, based on voltage space vector diagram, inherent fault tolerance of three level inverter on open-circuit and short-circuit fault was analyzed. Then, three kinds of fault tolerant topology switch redundancy, phase redundancy and ANPC, and characteristics of each control strategy are put forward, which lays a theoretical foundation for experimental research.
