Abstract The transient stability of power system, Simulink dynamic simulation tool based on Matlab and BPA are introduced in the paper. SimPowerSystem based on Matlab is used to build up Simulink models of a double-machine system. We observe how the rotor speed and angle of generator vary when the system suffer from a big disturbance. Then the system is simulated again by BPA, so that it can verify the accuracy of result. The result shows that the dynamic behavior of power system during transient processes can be observed quite accurately and directly. At the same time, it indicates that the transient stability of a double-machine system is worse than others.
