Link delay test method of voltage source converter based high voltage direct current control system

Abstract:For the oscillation problem of voltage source converter based high voltage direct current transmission (VSC-HVDC) system, both theoretical research and engineering practice show that the converter impedance characteristics can be greatly improved and the possibility of oscillation can be reduced by reducing the control delay. This paper studies the delay test method of VSC-HVDC system, introduces the control layers of VSC-HVDC and the influence of each control link on frequency band, and puts forward the test methods of link delay of control system, link delay of valve control system and full link delay of VSC-HVDC system. The test results of control system link delay, valve control system link delay and full link delay are given in combination with the factory test of Jiangsu Rudong VSC-HVDC Project. The test results show that the method is effective.
