Abstract:Compared with fiber optical current transformer (FOCT), shunt-type DC current transformers exhibit advantages of simpler structure, higher temperature stability, and better cost- effectiveness. However, in DC power transmission system applications, they face the challenge of balancing small current measurement accuracy with a wide dynamic range. This paper proposes a signal processing method based on dual-range independent analog-to-digital converter (ADC) sampling technology, which enhances measurement accuracy through a high-precision differential conditioning circuit. The primary-auxiliary dual ADC architecture achieves 0.2% error at 10% rated current while maintaining a 15 times rated current dynamic range. An intelligent switching algorithm with a hysteresis threshold prevents range oscillations. Experimental validation result shows that the prototype maintains an error meeting the Class 0.2 requirement of the IEC 61869-14 standard within the ±5 000 A range.
