Abstract Pumped-storage power station has the function of peak shaving, filling valley, emergency, etc., as an important part of power system. Due to the Ac excitation unit widely practical abroad, and the new pumped storage power station, the greater the greater the proportion of Ac excitation unit, and domestic pumped storage power station are all is the Dc excitation unit. In this paper, based on the characteristics of Ac excitation unit and pumped storage and combined with actual application situation of abroad in pumped-storage power station adopts Ac excitation unit shall meet the functional finishing summed up, for domestic pumped storage power plant Ac excitation unit in advance to provide some reference.
