Abstract An algorithm of fast detecting and estimating the current RMS of APR (arc protection relay) is addressed. Overcurrent breakdown in electric system can be detected used by this algorithm, at the same time, the overcurrent information can be transferred to APR. The APR contain high speed grounding switch and arc current detection algorithm can extinguish arc fastly. Afford Effective protection of power equipment.
