Abstract As the core electric drive for the primary pump motor in a nuclear power plant, any fault of the frequency converter can cause extremely serious consequences for production and related processes. This paper presents a redundant drive scheme for inverters. Two inverters are used to drive one motor to provide redundant backup for the whole inverter. When the main inverter device driving the motor fails, it can automatically switch to the backup inverter drive output in a short time (within 150ms) to ensure that the motor can run continuously and stably. This dual-machine redundant switching scheme provides an important guarantee for the stable operation of the nuclear power plant and reduces potential risks.
