The practice of expansion bays in 500kV smart substation without merging units |

Abstract With regard to the disadvantages appeared in the operating of 500kV smart substation with conventional transformers and merging units, the State Grid Corporation of China intends to remove the merging units and plans to adopt the mode of the cable directly sampling. Before the removing merging units project is carried out, the pattern that expanding bays without merging units directly is adopted. In this paper, the mixed sampling mode during this transition period is discussed, and the corresponding operation and maintenance points are proposed.
