Abstract A non-electricity and wireless communication online monitoring device for distribution transformer is developed in this paper, which can monitor the oil temperature, oil level, pressure, pile head temperature, ambient temperature and other non-electric quantities in real time. The device is powered by lithium battery and configured with low-power working mode. The data is transmitted externally through wireless communication methods such as 4G/long range radio (LoRa)/narrow band internet of things (NB-IoT). The device can be compatible with tubular oil level gauge in structural design, which realizes the convenience of installation and use. The field operation of the prototype shows that it has promotional and practical value.
