Analysis on lightning disturbance and protection of 220kV overhead transmission lines in Tibet power grid

Abstract:Lightning disturbance is one of the important factors affecting the stable operation of overhead transmission lines. Based on the survey which is to the tripping caused by lightning of 220kV overhead transmission lines of Tibet power grid, the influencing factors such as tower type, span and grounding resistance has been discussed in this paper. As an example, a common pair of lightning protection measures are discussed of 220kV ring network of Lhasa. The conclusions of this paper can provide a useful reference for the lightning protection transformation of transmission lines and the reduction of lightning trip rate.
