Abstract：It is common for outdoor boxes such as equipment terminal boxes, control boxes, and mechanism boxes in substations (converter stations) to experience water ingress, condensation and moisture. This can lead to a decrease in the insulation performance of internal components in the box, causing poor contact or short circuits and even equipment damage, forcing it to shut down or trip, and endangering the safe and stable operation of the power grid. With the increasing operation time of substations (converter stations), such problems have become increasingly prominent. Therefore, based on the defect statistics of China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd. Ultra High Voltage Transmission Company in recent years, this paper deeply analyzes the reasons for water ingress, condensation and moisture in outdoor boxes, evaluates the effectiveness of existing prevention measures, and proposes classified prevention and control measures to provide reference for the moisture-proof work of outdoor boxes in substations (converter stations).
