Abstract DC system grounding, will cause the protection tripping or malfunction; this paper explores the causes of DC system grounding fault and introduces the harm, and summarizes the most domestic substation DC system insulation detection method. Combined with a 220kV substation DC system insulation decreased with accident, reason of insulation produced by voltage change characteristic, that is because of branch Ⅱ DC bus insulation drop caused by power supply, and is mainly composed of capacitor, inductor and other components of the recorder, the DC bus voltage to the ground lead anode fall.
