Abstract For the problem of the hazards of grid harmonic and reactive current brought by single-phase power electronic equipment, single-phase half-bridge shunt active power filter is investigated. The operating principle is analyzed in detail, and the detection algorithm of harmonic and reactive currents is derived and used for single phase circuit harmonic and reactive current detection. The corresponding triangular wave current tracking control strategy is given to realize the control of the compensation current. In order to better output compensation current, LCL type filter is designed in the AC side half bridge inverter. By simulation results of Matlab, it is validated that single-phase halt-bridge shunt APF can accurately track and compensate harmonic and reactive current in power grid, and the feasibility of the proposed topology of single-phase shunt active power filter is further proved.
