Abstract In response to the abnormal overvoltage protection in distorted power environments which leads to lockout of inverter air-conditioners and even damage to key components due to overvoltage, the series resonance mechanism analysis and oscillation process simulation for the input circuit are carried out. Three series resonance suppression methods, namely changing the circuit topology, replacing capacitors, and consuming resonant energy, are proposed. They are respectively applicable to three different scenarios: thorough cure, field rectification and after-sales service. The effectiveness of the proposed methods is verified through simulation and field application.
