Abstract:For the large-scale photovoltaic power station, because of the large groupware arrangement, the cable cost of collecting power lines is high for a large amount of cables. And the copper core cable has a high price. Its problem of quality and environmental protection is increasingly outstanding. With the developing of aluminum process technology and the lack of copper resources in our country, “saving the copper with aluminum” becomes a general trend in cable industry for conductor after analyzed technology, price, safety, resources utilization of two conductors. The aluminum alloy cables have been widely applied by its well electrical performance and mechanical properties in Europe and America. Significant economic and social benefits can be obtained by using the aluminum alloy cables in photovoltaic power station. This paper compared the main ac and dc lines of the large-scale photovoltaic power station using aluminum alloy and copper core cables from the investment cost, line loss and cable laying. The possibility and necessity of the application of aluminum alloy cable in large-scale photovoltaic power station was preliminary studied.
