Abstract：Smart grid has become a trend in the development of global power grid, and it is the foundation and an important part of the new round energy revolution. Smart substation is a key link in the process of the smart grid construction. Intelligent primary equipment is an important distinction between smart substation and traditional substation, the research on the intelligent primary equipment of smart substation is very significant. This paper introduces the concept of smart substation, and analyzes the important progress and existing problems in the new technology of primary equipment, then puts forward suggestions about the intelligent primary equipment.
