Abstract In accordance with the actual needs of the Southern Power Grid,the DC Ice-Melting and SVC system with 12 Pulse wave is developed。Based on power electronic rectifier technology DC ice melting device, both static reactive compensation ( static var compensation, Abbreviation SVC ) function, so there is a broad application prospect of this system. Taking Guizhou power grid 500kV substation DC Ice-Melting and SVC project as an example, the function of the system, switching scheme, control system ,thytistor var and application were analyzed, it was proved that the DC Ice-Melting and SVC system with 12 Pulse wave is necessity and advantages.
