Field coil optimization for high temperature superconducting magnetic energy storage

Abstract:The purpose of this paper is to optimize the field coil applied to high temperature superconducting magnetic energy storage (HTS EMS) based on genetic algorithm combined with related simulation tool. With optimization, field coils can achieve higher Ic by decreasing the maximum perpendicular magnetic field with less HTS tapes consumption.
